ICYMI: Burgum is Wrong to ask Farmers to Prove their Patriotism
(BISMARCK, ND) – As negotiations with China continue to sputter, and other nations reap the benefits, overall sentiment from farmers across the country has gone from “We stand by the Administration,” to “This can’t go on much longer.” Grateful for temporary relief, but desperate for an end to the trade war after so much sacrifice, farmers are losing their patience. But here in North Dakota, Governor Doug Burgum seems to think any farmer that stands up to the Administration and demands real action on trade is “unpatriotic.” Farmer Vanessa Kummer took Governor Burgum to task in a passionate letter to the editor, equating Burgum’s asking of farmers to prove their patriotism with pure arrogance. “With these comments, he has proven he doesn’t have North Dakota’s best interest at heart.”
