6 months in, Trump Administration Marred with Chaos, Cruelty, and Corruption.

FARGO – Today marks six months of Donald Trump’s final term as president. Already his presidency has been marred with controversy, angst, and wide-spread protest.

Rep. Karla Rose Hanson (D-Fargo) remarked, “Chaos, cruelty and corruption are rampant in this administration. President Trump has lost no time causing uncertainty, hurting the vulnerable and lining his own pockets. We deserve leaders who focus on the real issues like making groceries, housing and business supplies more affordable.”

Sen. Tim Mathern (D-Fargo) said, “I trust North Dakotans will rise to their true identity and reject much of what Trump promotes. We are a God fearing people that want the best for our neighbors, relatives, and hard working New Americans. They need us, we need them.”

North Dakota Democratic-NPL Communications Director Laura Dronen said, “The Trump administration purposefully has Americans walking on egg shells with their constant stream of chaos and misdirection. Trump ripped away funding to prevent erosion in Fessenden’s 100-year old lagoon. The legislature—thanks to the Democrats—made up for that missing funding. How many more federal cuts can our state afford? What school funding is suddenly going to disappear next week? Even when they ultimately capitulate on their cuts, the hurt is already felt. They tell North Dakotans they’re freezing funding for after school programs, that they might eliminate a Social Security office in Minot, and then they bounce us around like a yo-yo. And, instead of standing up to this, Hoeven, Cramer, and Fedorchak have almost always endorsed these cuts. The big, ‘beautiful,’ bill will have devastating consequences for North Dakotans, and they gave it their kiss of approval.”

In response to the Big, Ugly Bill, the DNC launched TrumpTax.com to show what Trump is costing working North Dakotans since stepping into office. Because of Trump:

• Nearly 24,500 North Dakotans will lose health insurance
• 3,000 North Dakotans are at risk of losing food assistance
• Nearly 3,300 North Dakotans could lose their job
• The median household in North Dakota will lose over $300 from the Trump Tax alone. Combined with Trump’s reckless tariff agenda, the median household will lose over $1,600 annually
• Three rural hospitals in North Dakota are at risk of closing
• North Dakotans’ electricity bills will rise by 8.1%
• Trump’s reckless tariffs have already cost North Dakota businesses $38.1 million

  Additionally, North Dakota has lost $100 million in federal grants, including:

  • $6.3 million in grants to address mental health and substance abuse
  • $20 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency grants
  • $990,000 radon awareness, testing and mitigation to reduce radon impacts to low-income homes
