The North Dakota Democratic-NPL is seeking a Field Organizer based in Grand Forks, ND to help build a strong, sustainable grassroots operation across the region. This role is critical to expanding Democratic engagement, strengthening local organizing efforts, and working to break the current legislative supermajority.

The ideal candidate is friendly, highly organized, detail-oriented, and a motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing campaign environment. This person is passionate about building relationships, developing volunteer leaders, and bringing a progressive presence to communities across their region.

The Field Organizer (FO) will work directly with district chairs and regional leadership, legislative leadership, and the State Party staff and report to the Executive Director.

The successful candidate will have their own transportation and insurance, and be required to travel throughout a defined region to meet with and train volunteers. Travel will comprise approximately 25% of the work time and include rural areas across the districts and region(s) they serve.

In coordination with State Party staff and leadership, the Field Organizer will:

  • Implement a regional field plan and meet established organizing goals
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date tracking systems; analyze and evaluate results
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteer leaders to execute field programs
  • Plan and oversee events aligned with organizing goals
  • Build and maintain relationships with constituency groups, Democratic clubs, and allied organizations
  • Ensure all field activities comply with campaign finance rules and reporting requirements

  • Strong commitment to Democratic values and grassroots organizing
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to train, motivate, and support volunteers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Experience achieving measurable goals and targets
  • Experience coordinating across teams and stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
  • Experience working with diverse communities and backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working for or volunteering on political campaigns
  • Prior field organizing or community organizing experience

Work schedule includes weekends and evenings. Pay is $30 an hour.
