Argentina first? Trump bails out South American Country while North Dakota farmers suffer

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
September 25, 2025

FARGO – North Dakota farmers have been sounding the alarm all summer, and the crisis they face is making national headlines, too. Argentina has temporarily abolished its export taxes and Chinese buyers have flocked to the South American country. Meanwhile, because of the failed economic policies of MAGA darling Javier Milei, the Argentine economy is crumbling, and Trump is bailing his friend out.

North Dakota Democratic-NPL Chair Adam Goldwyn remarked, “North Dakota farmers have been ringing the alarm bells all summer. Trump’s tariff taxes destroyed our soybean markets, and North Dakota farmers are suffering because of him. This is the worst time for our farmers since the 1980s. Trump is bailing his friend in Argentina out while our farmers suffer, and Fedorchak, Hoeven, and Cramer are nowhere to be seen. What is waste, fraud, and abuse if not this? Trump is failing us, and our GOP members of Congress are failing us. The Democratic-NPL is committed to rebuilding markets for North Dakota farmers here and abroad.”
