Dem-NPL Statewide Field Director

The North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party is seeking a Statewide Field Director for the 2022 cycle. The Statewide Field Director will join the leadership team to energize and empower local communities, train candidates, volunteers, and organizers, and help deliver Democratic victories up and down the ticket.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overall management of the Statewide Field Program (the Coordinated Campaign) with collaboration from the Executive Director and Caucus Director.
  • Crafting, revising and executing the Field Plan as the cycle progresses.
  • Facilitating the training and development of volunteers, candidates, and coordinated campaign staff.
  • Ensuring that all metrics related to field activities are properly tracked
  • Training, managing, and developing staff and volunteers within targeted regions.
  • Providing professional guidance, training and troubleshooting for candidates.
  • Tracking and analyzing performance.
  • Adjusting plans and strategies, when necessary, in consultation with the Executive Director and Party Chair.
  • Facilitating tiered canvass programs.
  • Creating and disseminating turf and phone bank lists.
  • Setting up turf for MiniVAN, setting up virtual phone banks, and setting up text banking for candidates and volunteers, in collaboration with Coordinated Campaign staff.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least two cycles on issue or electoral campaigns, with at least one cycle managing staff.
  • Extensive experience with Votebuilder.
  • Positive attitude and ability to motivate staff members.
  • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Experience and knowledge of mass email and text.
  • Experience with Social Media and knowledge of how to use it for community organizing
  • Good time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of North Dakota political, electoral and legislative processes
  • Willing to work extensive hours, including nights and weekends with some travel.
  • Committed to details, results, meeting goals, and able to assess where improvement is needed.
  • Ability to approach problem solving with creativity and initiative.
  • Experience working collaboratively with elected officials, candidates, community groups, and/or allied organizations.
  • High level of personal and professional integrity.
  • Ability to manage conflict, work under pressure, and produce solutions.
  • The ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and handle regular challenges with a positive attitude.

Salary commensurate with experience. Health, vision, and dental insurance available. We are a Unionized staff, and Union membership is optional.
