Former North Dakota first lady Grace Link dies at 105

Link and her husband were longtime influential members of the state's Democratic-NPL Party. The couple has had a party lifetime achievement award named in their honor, and in November 2023, Grace Link was named the honorary chair of the Dem-NPL Century Club, a party fundraising unit focused on building infrastructure.

“Grace has been an inspiration to generations of Democratic-NPLers, especially women who were moved to get more involved because of her passion, and to whom Grace gave sage advice," Democratic-NPL Chair Adam Goldwyn said. "She represented the best of our Dem-NPL to which she was so committed: integrity, respect, belief in democracy and citizen activism.”

Bender: The Republican Party is circling the drain

Then Joe Biden delivered a lively State of the Union speech on Thursday, March 7, that completely upset the narrative that he's a drooling, Depends-wearing, incoherent stumblebum. Afterward, 64% of viewers reacted positively. He was glib, feisty, and, unlike Trump, able to remember his wife's name.

Zaleski: The Armstrong, Miller slick-slime

The first salvo of television spots for Republican governor candidates Rep. Kelly Armstrong and Lt. Gov. Tammy Miller were showcases for the slick-slime sophistry that political advertising has become: subtly dishonest, appealing to the worst in voters, purposefully divisive, and little more than cult-like fawning over a former president who has bullied them into craven submission.

For example, Armstrong makes the flat-out and demonstrably false assertion that President Joe Biden is the worst president in history. Most presidential historians disagree, including several who have rightly concluded that ex-president Donald Trump is by far the worst ever. An objective reading of the record confirms as much.

District 10 Democrats endorse Rep. Hamida Dakane

“Our residents demand affordable childcare solutions, and we must work to ensure safe and good-paying jobs for all workers in our state," Dakane said in a statement about her endorsement. "Behavioral health is also sorely lacking in North Dakota and an urgent need that our legislators must address. The 2023 legislative session was full of needless distractions — government overreach into our citizens’ private lives — when we could have been creating solutions for North Dakota’s families.”

McFeely: Biden hits a home run and Republicans whimper

The Republican view of America is dark. The GOP's portrait is one of cities overrun with crime, states overrun with illegal immigrants, children overrun by transgenderism, schools overrun with godless communism. None of it's true, of course. Life is good in America, including Biden's robust economy. But "American Carnage" is the Republican brand, easily sold to their unwitting voters who mainline Fox News, Facebook and talk-radio.

President Biden visits Philadelphia area on the heels of State of the Union address

A day after delivering arguably the most important speech of his presidency, President Joe Biden ramped up his 2024 campaign, starting right here in the Delaware Valley. … During his speech, Biden laid out his plans for a second term, vowing to protect reproductive rights, touting his record on the economy and calling for a ban on assault rifles. Despite only referring to his likely 2024 rival as ‘my predecessor’ during his third State of the Union, Biden took direct aim at Donald Trump while in the Philadelphia area.

In Atlanta stump speech, Biden promises to restore Roe, preserve democracy

President Joe Biden told a crowd of supporters in Atlanta Saturday he is ‘fighting like hell’ for women’s access to reproductive care and to preserve democracy, during his first campaign stop in Georgia this year. With Georgia crucial to another victory, he noted that Trump was also in the state today, but campaigning in north Georgia with U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. … He warned that returning Trump to the White House would reverse years of Democratic gains and allow Republicans to push more tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations, as well as restrictions against abortion and even in vitro fertilization.

Michigan seniors blast Trump’s plan to cut Social Security and Medicare

Kristi Noem sued over suspiciously enthusiastic video promoting her Texas dentist

“No one with an extremely important job in the South Dakota would fly to Texas to receive dental treatment and then sit in that office and film an advertisement without some form of compensation,” the group said in its filing. “Kristi Noem acted here as an influencer. She likely either received free dental care in exchange for this advertisement, discounted dental care in exchange for this advertisement or she was paid and received free dental care for the advertisement. Unfortunately Noem did not mark this as an ‘Ad’ or ‘Advertisement’ when posting so she is participating in an unfair and deceptive practice."
