Meet Mark Casler

Mark Casler has called the Trenton area home for more than 30 years. Raised in western North Dakota before the oil boom transformed the region, Mark grew up with a deep appreciation for the values of hard work, community, and rural life.

He graduated from Trenton High School in 2003 before earning an Associate of Arts degree from Williston State College in 2005. Mark continued his education at North Dakota State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science in 2008.

After completing his education, Mark returned home to Trenton, like many others drawn back by the opportunity for good-paying jobs and the chance to build a future in the community that shaped him. His lifelong connection to the area gives him a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing western North Dakota families, workers, and rural communities today.

Legislative Priorities

Mark is running for the North Dakota House of Representatives in District 23 because he believes the region deserves strong, effective leadership focused on improving the lives of working families and strengthening local communities. He is committed to advocating for practical solutions that invest in people, support economic growth, and ensure that western North Dakota continues to thrive.

One of Mark’s top priorities is ending the “family tax” of school lunches by working to ensure that every child has access to nutritious meals at school. He believes no student should have to worry about going hungry during the school day.

Mark also believes the state must continue investing in District 23, which serves as a major economic driver for North Dakota. Continued investment in infrastructure, communities, and local industries is essential to maintaining long-term prosperity for both the region and the state as a whole.

He is committed to supporting policies that encourage growth, create and retain good-paying jobs, and help communities remain strong places to live, work, and raise a family.

District 23 Information

North Dakota Legislative District 23 is located in the northwestern part of the state and includes much of Williams County, including communities such as Williston, Trenton, and several surrounding rural communities and townships. The district is at the center of North Dakota’s energy industry and plays a major role in the state’s economy through oil production, agriculture, transportation, and small business development.

District 23 is one of the fastest-growing and youngest legislative districts in North Dakota, with a population of approximately 16,000 residents and a median age well below the state average. The area includes a diverse workforce made up of longtime residents, energy workers, families, farmers, ranchers, educators, and healthcare professionals. Strong schools, reliable infrastructure, workforce housing, healthcare access, and economic opportunity remain key priorities for communities across the district.
