If you choose to phone bank alongside Olivia, there will be a brief Zoom volunteer training for each session. - Canvassing can work if more of us show up to do it! Enough is enough with excuses or doubts, let's make this process work for our community, team

Christiansen criticizes Cramer for false Jan. 6 statements during Senate debate
Christiansen blasted Cramer for voting against a bipartisan border security bill that would have provided resources to Customs and Border Patrol Agents.
|
“He’s a career politician,” she said. “He identifies a problem, assigns blame and he walked away from the hard work of resolving the issues he saw in the bill.”

North Dakota governor candidates debate Measure 2, ethics
Piepkorn, a state senator, said he opposes Measure 2, which was placed on the 2024 general election ballot by the Legislature. The measure would limit ballot initiatives to a single subject; increase the signature requirement for petitions; force ballot initiatives to be passed by the voters during the primary election and the general election; and require petition circulators to be eligible to vote in North Dakota.

Letter: Merrill Piepkorn is a breath of fresh air
When you grow up like Merrill did, in Stanley and Fargo, North Dakota, the son of a schoolteacher, you appreciate teachers and librarians. You appreciate common sense and working together. You understand the importance of smart economic development that will actually benefit hard-working families, support community life, and protect our environment. You respect that others have a right to make decisions for themselves, like women should over their own healthcare.

During Chamber forum, Grand Forks legislative candidates disagree on North Dakota abortion ban
“I believe that the Legislature of North Dakota has no business in my doctor’s office or anyone else’s,” Grossbauer said. “How are we supposed to expect a 12-year-old who was raped to know that she was pregnant if she’s not menstruating? I think it was a slap in the face to every woman across this state.”

District 38 Democrat responds on debate issue
“It is very frustrating to see the lack of effort put forth by my House 38 GOP opponents to commit to a debate this entire election season,” Hermosillo said. “Voters’ ability to hear directly from their candidates is crucial and can significantly impact their ability to make well-informed decisions this November.”

Student voters are famously difficult to reach. The UND Public Affairs Club is trying anyway
“UND is a tough place to advertise to students, but we did have a few people from just around the campus come in through word-of-mouth,” he said. “So that was exciting.”
|
Bristow, vice president of the UND Public Affairs Club, is hoping to increase student engagement with the political process ahead of November’s election.
|
He and his club are facing an uphill battle: College students face higher barriers than other North Dakota residents to vote, and local observers are offering mixed signals as to whether they’re tuning in to this election.

Harris campaign unveils proposals for rural communities
North Carolina Democratic Party Chair Anderson Clayton was also on the call, and expressed concern over Trump’s promise to appeal the Affordable Care Act with “concepts of a plan” during the presidential debate last month.
|
“Since that debate, Trump's concepts have become clear. He and his MAGA running mate JD Vance, intend to repeal the ACA and gut protections for pre existing conditions, forcing people into high risk pools and causing the cost of care to skyrocket for the over 100 million Americans with pre existing conditions,” said Clayton. “Vice President Kamala Harris and President Biden have fought tooth and nail to lower healthcare costs for everyone. Trump's project 2025 agenda would take us backwards.”

Pro-Trump dark money network tied to Elon Musk behind fake pro-Harris campaign scheme
An initiative called Progress 2028 that purports to be Kamala Harris’ liberal counter to the conservative Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 is actually run by a dark money network supporting former President Donald Trump.
|
Building America’s Future, the dark money group at the helm of the network, has steered money to a constellation of groups and initiatives boosting Trump’s agenda and spreading messaging aimed at chipping away voters from Harris. The dark money group reportedly received over $100 million in funding from billionaire Elon Musk, along with other donors, the New York Times recently reported.

Indigenous Peoples Day celebrated with an eye on the election
The Democratic National Committee on Monday announced a six-figure ad buy aimed at driving Native American voter turnout in four states: Arizona, North Carolina, Montana and Alaska. […] The campaign aims to drive voter turnout by reaching Native communities in those four states via digital, print and radio ads, a majority of which are being placed in local and national Native-owned publications, per the DNC. ‘Democrats are meeting Native voters where they are, investing in our third ad campaign this cycle dedicated to reaching Native communities, with vital information about voting in this election,’ DNC Chair Jaime Harrison said in a release. ‘We know that this upcoming election is critical for our Tribal nations, with our freedoms, access to health care and education, and the fundamental right to self-determination and Tribal sovereignty on the ballot.’ Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, who would become the country's first Native American governor if Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz are elected in November, said that indigenous people ‘will absolutely help decide the results of this election.’ ‘With Harris and Walz at the top of the ticket, Native voters in swing states and in communities across the country have the power to put Democrats in office who will strengthen our tribal sovereignty and work to ensure that every Native child has the opportunity to achieve their biggest, boldest dreams,’ she said. ‘Now it’s up to us to raise our voices with our votes.’
