U.S. Senate debate between Sen. Kevin Cramer and challenger Katrina Christiansen
In other areas, however, there was sharp disagreement. Christiansen hit Cramer for voting against a bipartisan border bill negotiated in part by Sen. James Lankford, one of the most conservative members of the Senate and, Cramer revealed, a roommate of the incumbent. Cramer, for his part, pointed out that while Christiansen may be more moderate than some of her national Demcoratic counterparts, her presence in the Senate is a vote toward liberal Democrats leading the chamber.

U.S. Senate candidate Christiansen discusses top issues
“We need to do a better job working across the aisle, being future focused, being honestly bipartisan in our efforts to govern and be putting North Dakota’s, and America’s, future at the forefront of what we do,” Christiansen said. She added that the country needs to ‘get away from the fighting and the culture wars and all of the things that stop us from getting anything done.’

In debate, North Dakota's U.S. House candidates say next representative needs to be a leader
“Strong leaders do not praise people like Putin, people like Orban, people like Kim Jong Un,” Hammer said. “I took a lot of heat from (calling on Biden to drop out). Do I wish he was younger? Yes. Do I feel like he’s a competent commander-in-chief who will keep my son-in-law out of danger and lead well and do I feel like he’s surrounded by good people? Also yes.”

Letter: Have Republicans forgotten that women vote?
JD Vance agreed with podcaster who said: “the whole purpose of the postmenopausal female is to help raise children.”
|
Royce White US Senate candidate for MN: “Women are getting too mouthy.”
|
Mark Robinson North Carolina candidate for governor: “I absolutely want to go back to the time before women could vote.”

|
Letter: Christiansen cares about rural North Dakota
Cramer obviously does not care about rural towns in North Dakota. So I am voting for Katrina Christiansen. She cares about rural North Dakota and, in the U.S. Senate, she will work hard for all of us. Let’s get people who actually support North Dakota representing us in Congress.

Tribune editorial: State needs better way to track travel
Travel needs to be transparent. If someone wants to check on legislative or other state travel, there should be a database to check. There’s no indication of other problems with legislative travel, but there needs to be a better way to monitor. It’s for the benefit of not just the public, but also legislators and other state officials.

Julie Fedorchak, Trygve Hammer square off in the Plain Talk U.S. House Debate
Hammer, a Marine Corps veteran, said it's because fewer than 80 of the current 435 members of the House of Representatives have served in the military. He also said he wants to promote an atmosphere where leaders talk to one another instead of past one another.

Letter: Protect rights to contraceptives
The thought that my granddaughter and great granddaughters to come may not have the right to contraceptives that we fought so hard for is devastating to me. The president we elect in November will have the opportunity to nominate new Supreme Court justices. For this reason, I urge all women to vote blue, Democratic, this election year.

Bender: What's your price to sell out democracy?
Shame to those who know better but continue to sidestep the J6 and Project 2025 issues — those whose wealth and position assures they'll survive a dictatorship. And you've got the coin-operated media lying to unstudied voters who don't understand that they're being fed political bile by the very same people kicking them in the pants.
|
If that sounds overly complicated, let's take it from the top: Consider your family members who served and what they fought and died for. Democracy. Freedom.

Don't vote for anyone who's ever staged a coup.

Kamala Harris Talks Up Vision for ‘Opportunity Economy’ in First Campaign Interview, Says Trump Is ‘Dividing Our Nation’
Pressed about what she would do on Day One if elected, Harris replied: “Going to be about one implementing my plan for what I call an ‘opportunity economy,'” she said. “I’ve already laid out a number of proposals that include what we’re going to do to bring down the cost of everyday goods, what we’re going to do to is invest in America’s small businesses” as well as families with her proposal for a permanent $6,000 child tax credit for low- and middle-income families.

After being denied a medically necessary abortion, Amanda Zurawski will do whatever it takes to beat Donald Trump
After nearly dying Zurawski sued the state over its abortion laws and lost, but captured the attention of the nation. Now, she’s at the forefront of Democrats’ battle against anti-abortion legislation and leaning into a new and unexpected path for herself, born out of an anger over her own experience and a desire for change.
|
“My future is going to be in the political world. I just don't know what it looks like yet,” said Zurawski, who quit her job earlier this year to focus on the presidential campaign. She’s not ruling out running for office herself.

The War on Drug Prices Is Just Getting Started
On Thursday, the Biden administration announced that it had negotiated down the cost of the 10 most costly drugs covered by Medicare in a landmark deal. Once the reduced prices are enacted, in 2026, patients are expected to spend billions less out of pocket—as is the US government.
|
Meanwhile, Kamala Harris is speaking in North Carolina and elsewhere to push a new slate of economic policies, including aggressive action on price gouging, medical expenses, and the rising cost of living. What are the natural next steps for Democrats to build on the momentum of the White House’s Medicare deal?
