Letter: Democracy is on the ballot

It does not promote violence to speak out against the threats to our democracy. Project 2025 is a serious treat to United States democracy. Right extremist, Jack Posobiec, speaking to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), actually said “Welcome to the end of democracy. We are here to overthrow it completely. We didn’t get all the way there on January 6, but we will endeavor to get rid of it.” His audience cheered and the moderator Steve Bannon said “Amen.” I think we need to take this seriously.

Bender: Presidential reset changes everything

While the Trump campaign tries to tamp down dictatorial fears, violent rhetoric, and the War on Women, there's no controlling the frothing base they've unleashed. They're mad as hell and they're not going to take it anymore, too oblivious to understand they're voting against their own interests.

Former North Dakota Democratic Senator Heidi Heitkamp talks President Biden's legacy

“He has serious foreign policy chops, and I think he has always been able to gather around him really good minds and listen to those really good minds. They are going to talk about chips and infrastructure, made in America, and the IRA and the work that he’s done on climate. The fights that he’s taken on for working-class people,” said Heitkamp

North Dakota Democrats see an exciting month ahead

Democrats cited the CHIPS and Science Act and the Inflation Reduction Act as Biden accomplishments.
In an emailed statement, Adam Godwyn, chair of the North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party said, “For a half century, through personal and political triumphs and setbacks, President Biden has done what he believes is best for our country and our world. Like George Washington, President Biden becomes one of very few American Presidents to voluntarily cede power in pursuit of the greater good.”

Letter: Gov. Doug Burgum is no role model

Many North Dakotans have been shocked and embarrassed by the extent to which our governor has been willing to abandon the most basic moral standards, principles, and respect for the rule of law, in his quest for political ambition.

What putting America first actually looks like

But now that Biden has done the right thing for himself and the republic — now that he's put America first, as it were — the self-anointed America First movement can't abide it.

Kamala Harris on Being ‘Momala’

When I met Doug, the man who would become my husband, I also met a man who was a divorced father of two children, Cole and Ella, named after John Coltrane and Ella Fitzgerald. As a child of divorce, I knew how hard it could be when your parents start to date other people. And I was determined not to insert myself in their lives until Doug and I had established we were in this for the long haul. Children need consistency; I didn’t want to insert myself into their lives as a temporary fixture because I didn’t want to disappoint them. There’s nothing worse than disappointing a child.

Michael Steele: Trump attacks on Harris ‘incoherent’

“At a rally in North Carolina, Donald Trump showed in real time how the ground has shifted for Republicans, as he tried out some incoherent attacks on his new opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, including repeatedly mispronouncing her name and trying out a recycled insult or two,” Steele said while guest-hosting MSNBC’s “The ReidOut.”

JD Vance repeatedly indicated in 2016 that he believed Donald Trump had committed sexual assault

Vance appeared on a MSNBC segment in October 2016 on Trump’s alleged sexual misconduct in which an interview with Jessica Leeds, a former salesperson who accused Trump of groping and forcibly kissing her during a flight in the 1970s, was played. Vance said it was hard to believe Trump’s denials over Leeds.

“At a fundamental level, this is sort of a ‘he said, she said,’ right? And at the end of the day, do you believe Donald Trump, who always tells the truth? Just kidding,” said Vance sarcastically. “Or do you believe that woman on that tape?” he said, referring to Leeds.

Where J.D. Vance Gets His Weird, Terrifying Techno-Authoritarian Ideas

Vance did not get this extremist ideology from his Appalachian upbringing or—needless to say—Yale Law. It was incubated in America’s tech capital, San Francisco, where he forged crucial ties with Thiel, Yarvin, and David Sacks, the longtime Thiel associate and pro-Putin crusader who recently hosted a Trump fundraiser at his mansion in Pacific Heights. And if Vance ends up in the White House, it will be with $45 million in monthly campaign contributions from Musk, who already made a $44 billion in-kind contribution by gutting San Francisco-based Twitter and transforming it into a right-wing misinformation weapon.

J.D. Vance has made it impossible for Trump to run away from Project 2025

Vance, as I wrote last week, has backed a maximalist version of this agenda. In 2021, Vance said that in Trump’s second term, Trump should “fire every single midlevel bureaucrat, every civil servant in the administrative state, replace them with our people.” The courts would try to stop this, Vance continued, and Trump should then “stand before the country like Andrew Jackson did, and say, ‘The chief justice has made his ruling. Now let him enforce it.’”
