Century Club Update
The goal of this State Party is to win elections. When we do that, Dem NPL legislators and state office holders will once again work for you. Reaching 500 Century Club members is the first threshold we need to meet in order to sustain our organizing staff to meet the campaign demands for the upcoming, and crucial, midterm elections; and to build this party to take back power in Bismarck and DC.
|
|
Our Finance Director Colin Helfenstein said, "We are now up to 460 members! District 11 is in the lead with 31 members, D46 with 28 and D44 with 25 members come in 2nd and 3rd."

North Dakota House Minority Leader Zachary Ista not seeking reelection
"I know my Democratic colleagues will keep fighting to make North Dakota more affordable and speaking out against those who would push our state and country down a dangerous and divisive path," Ista said.
|
He said he remains committed to the values that led him to public service despite his decision not to run again, and he will continue seeking opportunities to contribute to the state and the Democratic-NPL Party.

Local Dem-NPL leaders eye candidates to run for House Minority Leader Zac Ista's seat
“Rep. Ista is exactly the type of leader we need in the legislature,” Assistant Senate Minority Leader Josh Boschee, from Fargo, said. “He has garnered the respect of elected leaders at every level of government through his ability to effectively negotiate important funding and policy solutions that positively impact North Dakotans and their families. I am confident he will continue to provide leadership to the Grand Forks community and wish Rep. Ista the best of luck as he takes a break in public service.”

Plain Talk: Democratic-NPL candidates for US House debate
Thompson told us he's running to protect farmers. "Trump's tariffs have caused the largest farm crisis in 40 years," he said. "That was a self-inflicted wound. And that's one of the reasons I got into this race is because of the tariffs."
|
"Tariffs are a tax on consumers," Hammer told us, "and it is a regressive tax." He said he'd like to focus on restoring the balance of power between Congress and the executive branch. "Congress will have to take the reins and be a check on the Trump administration."

Nikolaus Groenewold announces campaign to fill open District 20 House seat
“I am running for the people of my district, to give them a clear choice this fall. We have a Republican supermajority in the House of 83 to 11 Democrats," Groenewold said. "This imbalance has led to a Legislature that is more interested in courting lobbyists and big industrial interests over the will of average North Dakotans. I believe democracy functions best when we have vigorous, respectful debate — not one-party rule.”
