State Convention is coming!

This year's convention theme is "Unite For Our Future" - a call to action grounded in shared democratic values and collective responsibility.

At a moment when division threatens progress, we come together - across generations, communities, and regions - to reaffirm that democracy works best when everyone has a voice and a stake in what comes next. This convention is about leadership rooted in hope, action over cynicism, and unity as the engine of lasting change. Together, we are not just defending democracy - we are building a future worthy of the next generation.

Accountability Project 2026

In a recent letter, Sen. Kent Conrad said of Burgum, Hoeven, and Cramer, "If they cannot find the courage to stand against government abuse of American citizens, they should resign or be held in contempt by the judgment of history." We're going to continue to put pressure on our elected officials and demand that they find a backbone in this moment.

On Friday, February 27, we're going to drop off messages from North Dakotans across the state at the offices of our Federal Delegation.
North Dakota Democrats are fired up to run for office this year!

Districts 3, 7, 9, 11, 13, 31, 33, and 35 have all endorsed full slates, and most Districts have endorsed at least one candidate for the Legislature! If you want to run, this is the year to do it! Let us know if you are interested!

Century Club Update

The goal of this State Party is to win elections. When we do that, Dem NPL legislators and state office holders will once again work for you. Reaching 500 Century Club members is the first threshold we need to meet in order to sustain our organizing staff to meet the campaign demands for the upcoming, and crucial, midterm elections; and to build this party to take back power in Bismarck and DC.

Our Finance Director Colin Helfenstein said, "We are up to 437, up from 414 at the beginning of the month! Our top 3 Districts are D11 with 29 members, D46 with 27 members, and D44 with 25 members."

Democratic-NPL Party announces candidates for Bismarck legislative seats

Valeu said he was especially heartened to see a large number of young people attend the convention and get involved with the party. He said the party has seen a swell in people engaging with it, volunteering and registering online.

“The atmosphere was very energizing. People are extremely frustrated with how the national administration is negatively impacting people at the local level,” he said.

Valeu said the endorsed Democratic candidates are focused on affordability, education, health care and ethics in government.

Letter: Sen. Conrad knows what he's talking about

I got to know Sen. Conrad, mostly through correspondence. In 2003 he stood up against popular sentiment and voted against the illegal and immoral Iraq War, one of only 23 senators. The last time I spoke to Kent, he said it was the best vote he ever cast. He stands tall in history. Most of the leadership at that time does not.

Conrad is a statesman not a political hack. He worked very well with Republicans, across the aisle. As chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, he worked in a bipartisan fashion to form working budgets with Sen. Judd Gregg, they became friends in the process.

Letter: Fargo must strengthen oversight of tax incentives

As a candidate for mayor, I strongly believe that tax incentives offered by the city must be tools that are carefully evaluated before approval and then monitored after the fact to ensure they deliver the public benefits we intend. Incentives are meant to spur development, remove blight, expand housing options, and ultimately grow our tax base. But when projects are structured or transferred in ways that negate those outcomes, our community loses out on revenue that could have supported neighborhood improvements, public safety, infrastructure, and essential city services.

Dem-NPL holds district conventions as state convention approaches

On Saturday, each of North Dakota’s two largest cities held district conventions in preparation for the state convention. Trygve Hammer, who ran for Congress in 2024, is seeking the seat once again. Hammer spoke at the Bismarck-Mandan district convention, telling a packed auditorium, “We have no voice in Congress.” Hammer said. “We deserve better, our military families deserve better.”

Immigrants, employers frustrated by delays in federal system

For immigrants already in the United States, Powell said they need to exercise caution, such as making a copy of documents showing that they have a pending application with Citizenship and Immigration Services to keep at home while carrying the original when they leave their residence.
Powell said people with appointments with the agency should know they can be detained at the immigration office.
“Things are really complex right now, and it’s a good idea to talk to an immigration attorney,” she said. “Make sure you understand your eligibility and know if there are any risks, because the stakes are so much higher now.”

Deport liars to Mars

The White House and cabinet are filled with malignant narcissists like Trump, Nazis like Miller, and those with reality problems like Pete Hegseth. They have a problem with the truth. As an example, Secretary of Interior Doug Burgum is an incredibly shrinking man who is destroying the National Park System and history. VP Vance preaches immunity for ICE killers.

RFK Jr. made promises to get his job as health secretary. He's broken many of them

Weeks after Kennedy took over the federal health department, the CDC pulled back $11 billion in COVID-era grants that local health departments were using to fund vaccination programs, among other initiatives.

That happened after Kennedy pledged during his confirmation hearings not to undermine vaccine funding. Kennedy replied, "Yes" when Cassidy asked him directly: "Do you commit that you will not work to impound, divert, or otherwise reduce any funding appropriated by Congress for the purpose of vaccination programs?"

Brooke Rollins’ One-Year Performance Review: American Farmers and Families Are Worse Off

Trump and Rollins have claimed that the U.S. is moving to a “golden age for our farmers.” Here’s the truth: Trump’s reckless trade war has been a blow to farmers, locking them out of markets completely. As Argentina undercut U.S. farmers in the global marketplace, Trump promised to bail out Argentina to the tune of tens of billions of dollars. Then, after months of delays and excuses, Trump and Rollins announced a Band-Aid bailout for farmers that will fail to make farmers whole on their losses and won’t address the long-term damage Trump has done.

NEW: Ghislaine Maxwell Offers To Clear Trump’s Name From Any Wrongdoing With Epstein in Exchange for Clemency

“The masks are officially off. Ghislaine Maxwell is offering to clear Donald Trump’s name and make the Epstein scandal go away in exchange for her clemency because she knows that quid-pro-quo is this White House’s modus operandi. Trump’s administration has been engaged in a government cover-up since the beginning, refusing to deliver the transparency and accountability for Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes that they promised on the campaign trail. When will Trump stop protecting pedophiles and answer the calls of Epstein’s survivors and the American people?”
