This is a nationwide mobilization to stop the most brazen power grab in modern history. Trump, Musk, and their billionaire cronies are orchestrating an all-out assault on our government, our economy, and our basic rights—enabled by Congress every step of the way.

They want to strip America for parts—shuttering Social Security offices, firing essential workers, eliminating consumer protections, and gutting Medicaid—all to bankroll their billionaire tax scam. They’re handing over our tax dollars, our public services, and our democracy to the ultra-rich.
If we don’t fight now, there won’t be anything left to save.

Port: What if Drew Wrigley tried building consensus for a change?

Expect the attorney general to spend the interim between legislative sessions rushing to the scene of any crime he can shoehorn into his preferred narrative, podium in tow and his self-referential "be worthy" slogan on display, so he can attribute blame for the crime to the opponents of his legislation.

Port: Native American lawmaker objects to colleague's comments about Standing Rock reservation

"As a Native legislator, I hear too often the careless ways our sovereign tribal nations are spoken about in this chamber," she continued. "I urge us all to be more responsible with our words. Tribal nations are not the cause of the drug crisis in North Dakota. We are partners in public safety, in community healing, and in justice reform."
When I reached her by phone, Davis had no additional comment. "I put it all in there," she said. "Normally I would, and have in the past, take people aside. That hasn't worked, so I tried another route."

Red-O Pedos

Right next door in Minnesota, Republican state Senator Justin Eichorn was arrested on March 17th for soliciting prostitution from a person he thought was a 17-year-old girl, but who was actually a detective in a sting operation. Earlier that same day, Eichorn and four of his Republican colleagues had introduced a bill classifying “Trump Derangement Syndrome” as a mental illness suffered by those who dare to criticize Donald Trump. Karma works fast in Minnesota, apparently.

Humanities North Dakota in limbo after loss of federal funding

Humanities North Dakota could be forced to close after learning Wednesday all of its federal grant funding was terminated.
The nonprofit, which provides civics, arts and cultural education, relies on funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities to cover core operational costs, Executive Director Brenna Gerhardt said.

She said Humanities North Dakota received a letter earlier this week from the National Endowment for the Humanities indicating that a $900,000 grant it received for the 2025 fiscal year was axed effective immediately. The nonprofit, which has four full-time and two part-time staff, had yet to spend about $600,000 of the grant, said Gerhardt.
“We’ll have to close our doors,” she said.

Friday Federal News Round-Up

    People's Cabinet

Today, DNC Chair Ken Martin announced the launch of the “People’s Cabinet,” a new project from the DNC that will leverage a deep bench of qualified policy experts, national and local leaders, as well as community voices who – all working together – will cut through the lies and speak directly to the American people about the reality of the Trump administration’s reckless and dangerous agenda.

This will include a virtual roundtable on the impact of Trump’s economic agenda on farmers and rural communities with former U.S. Senator from North Dakota Heidi Heitkamp and farmer, rural advocate, and co-founder of The Back Forty Will Westmoreland.

The People’s Cabinet: Former Labor Secretaries Slam Trump’s Failing Economic Agenda

Today, the DNC hosted a press call with DNC Chair Ken Martin, former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich, and former Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su to call out Donald Trump’s reckless economic agenda. With Trump putting the economy on recession watch, it’s clear that Trump and his billionaire Cabinet – including his shadow president Elon Musk – will do nothing but hurt working families and tank economic growth with their reckless agenda.

“We are in a crisis right now because of Donald Trump and his administration. They have created an economic crisis,” said former Labor Secretary Robert Reich. “Not only do we have an employment report that shows that manufacturing jobs are almost stagnant in terms of where they’ve been and the Labor Department actually adjusted downward its figures for the last couple of months. … I’ve almost never seen something like this happen.”

“Donald Trump does not have a good track record on [manufacturing]. When he left office, manufacturing jobs were down 200,000 just within his first term … bringing back industry requires not just one blunt instrument, not just throwing out words like tariffs and doing them in a completely unstrategic fashion,” said former acting Labor Secretary Julie Su. “And so just watching an administration that has no real interest in governing, no real interest in making sound policy decisions, but rather just, you know, throwing out terms and words and hoping that people aren’t paying attention.”

Elon Musk Suffers Humiliating Loss In Wisconsin As Voters Reject the Musk-Trump Agenda

On Tuesday, Elon Musk’s dream of buying a seat on Wisconsin’s Supreme Court to further his and Trump’s far-right agenda was crushed as Wisconsin voters overwhelmingly elected liberal Judge Susan Crawford.

Republicans Confirm Trump’s Unqualified Pick To Scam Americans Out of Their Medicare and Medicaid

“Senate Republicans are helping Donald Trump put an unqualified grifter in charge of gutting Medicare and Medicaid for millions of people. Just like Trump, Dr. Mehmet Oz doesn’t give a damn about Americans’ health care — he’s more interested in pillaging Medicare and Medicaid to give tax handouts to Trump’s billionaire backers. Make no mistake: Our health care is not safe in Trump and Dr. Oz’s hands.”

Trump Chooses Saudi LIV Golf Over Fallen Troops

Sam Stein and Ben Parker discuss the dignified transfer of four U.S. troops who died in a NATO training accident in Lithuania. President Trump chose to skip the event, attending a golf-related negotiation and fundraiser instead. Stein and Parker criticize Trump's absence, noting his history of controversial comments about veterans and contrasting his decision with past political responses to similar events.

China imposes a 34% tariff on imports of all U.S. products starting April 10

China announced Friday that it will impose a 34% tariff on imports of all U.S. products beginning April 10, part of a flurry of retaliatory measures following U.S. President Donald Trump’s “Liberation Day” slate of double-digit tariffs.

The new tariff matches the rate of the U.S. “reciprocal” tariff of 34% on Chinese exports that Trump ordered this week.
The Commerce Ministry in Beijing also said in a notice that it will impose more export controls on rare earths, which are materials used in high-tech products such as computer chips and electric vehicle batteries.

A former California Republican Party official, Dhillon has been Trump’s legal adviser for the last four years. Her law firm, Dhillon Law Group, has filed more than a dozen lawsuits across eight states aimed at challenging voting rights, election processes or the ability of Trump to appear on 2024 ballots in states that disqualified him because of his role in inciting the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection.
