Tariffs Troubles

American Farmers are hurting under Trump's trade war.

The District 20 Democratic-NPL is hosting "Tariffs: Present and Future Impact"

Mayville State University Auditorium
October 19th 5:00-6:30 pm
Open to everyone

Everybody is talking about them, now come and listen to the discussion and ask your questions about how tariffs are impacting our ag industry, our communities, and ultimately you.

Featured speakers include Ben Vig, Farmers Union; Jack Pifer, Pifer Real Estate and Auctions; and Brent Kohls, ND Soy Bean Association.

Democrats are fighting for farmers

Yesterday, the DNC launched a new mini-documentary featuring Illinois soybean farmer Farmer John Bartman, whose fifth-generation farm is hurting due to Trump’s tariffs. They also launched a corresponding ad campaign across House battleground districts in Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Kentucky, and Missouri. Family farms are going bankrupt at the fastest pace in five years and farm debt is projected to hit a record high of $591.8 billion this year.

Farmers Don’t Want a Trump Bailout, but Argentina's Trumpy President does.

Even Republican lawmakers acknowledge the harm Trump’s tariffs have caused, which is why they’re trying to reverse track with an estimated $10 billion bailout package. But, farmers don’t want a bailout—they want their export markets back. It's like putting a Band-Aid over a gunshot wound. It’s not enough to fix the long-term problem Trump’s tariffs have created.

Because of the failed economic policies of MAGA darling Javier Milei, the Argentine economy is crumbling, and Trump is giving him a $40 billion bailout. Our farmers are unable to sell their crop to China, and guess who's taken those markets!

Argentina.

They temporarily abolished their export taxes, and Chinese buyers have flocked to the South American country.

Trump is bailing his friend in Argentina out while our farmers suffer, and Fedorchak, Hoeven, and Cramer are nowhere to be seen. What is waste, fraud, and abuse if not this? Trump is failing us, and our GOP members of Congress are failing us. The Democratic-NPL is committed to rebuilding markets for North Dakota farmers here and abroad.

Help us elect great Democrats up and down the ballot!
The North Dakota Democratic-NPL is launching a new grassroots program called “Neighbor to Neighbor” where volunteers will connect with voters in your community to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. As a volunteer, you will be responsible for connecting with voters in 25 homes in your neighborhood or friends and family to help elect Democrats up and down the ballot about 3-4 times this year.
Grassroots organizers are the lifeblood of the Dem-NPL! Sign up to volunteer with the Dem-NPL!
