Appeals court rules against North Dakota tribes in voting rights case
“Today’s ruling wrongly forecloses voters disenfranchised by a gerrymandered redistricting map, as Native voters in North Dakota have been, from challenging that map under the Voting Rights Act,” Native American Rights Funds Staff Attorney Lenny Powell said in a Wednesday statement published by the Campaign Legal Center.

Rep. Zac Ista, D-Grand Forks, said he believes the legislation will deliver “real, lasting and sustainable property tax relief and reform for North Dakota homeowners.”

“This will both help homeowners stay in their homes and attract new workers to our state,” Ista said in response to an emailed survey sent to local lawmakers by the Grand Forks Herald at the end of the session. “I was proud to stand with (Gov. Kelly Armstrong) in prioritizing homeowners and making sure this relief can extend well into the future in a way that doesn’t bust the budget.”

Attorney General Pam Bondi sold between $1 million and $5 million worth of shares of Trump Media the same day that President Donald Trump unveiled bruising new tariffs that caused the stock market to plummet, according to records obtained Wednesday by ProPublica.

Trump Media, which runs the social media platform Truth Social, fell 13% in the following days, before rebounding.

Moreover, Miller ham-handedly slices off the limiting, second half of the clause: that suspension can occur only when “the public Safety may require it.” Whatever national crisis Trump is attempting to manufacture about the presence of immigrants in the country, the public safety does not require that courts not consider the due process rights of detainees. And Trump’s ensuing suggestion that the decision not to suspend is contingent on “whether the courts do the right thing”—is overbearing and thuggish.
