Operations Director

POSITION TITLE: Operations Director

REPORTS TO: Scott McNeil, Executive Director of the North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party

LOCATION: Bismarck, ND

DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a positive, energetic, organized, and professional individual to assist in the day-to-day operations of the North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party. A willingness to learn new skills, help out where needed, and the ability to manage multiple tasks is a must.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and improve operational systems, processes, and policies in support of the Party’s mission, specifically supporting excellent information flow and organizational planning
  • Coordinate with the Executive Director, Field Director, and/or the Communications Director to resolve day-to-day issues and task execution
  • Organize fiscal, payroll, and all other official Party documents
  • Plan, calculate budgets, and coordinate vendors for events such as committee meetings, fundraisers, and conventions
  • Contribute to short- and long-term organizational planning and strategy as a member of the party’s management team
  • Work with the Party Chair, Executive Director and other party staff in addressing any Human Resource issues
  • Assist in fundraising under the direction of the Executive Director/Finance Director
  • Maintain fundraising list and conduct fundraising follow up calls
  • Field and direct phone calls from a wide variety of people
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Solid understanding of electoral process and government
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Professional appearance and demeanor

Deputy Coordinated Campaign Director

Position: Deputy Coordinated Campaign Director
Organization: North Dakota Democratic-NPL
Reports To: Coordinated Campaign Director

Overall Description: The Deputy Coordinated Campaign Director (DCCD) will be an integral part of the 2018 North Dakota Coordinated Campaign (NDCC). The DCCD will assist the Coordinated Campaign Director in managing Regional Field Directors (RFDs), with a particular focus on the western half of the state, and in training staff on fundamentals of management and voter outreach.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in hiring, managing, training and mentoring a staff of RFDs and Field Organizers (FOs)
Delivering weekly goals for a team of RFDs, and holding NDCC field staff accountable for reaching goals in all metrics, including:
• Direct voter contact via door knocks, phone, and text
• Volunteer recruitment and team building
• Commit to vote card collection
• Distribution of Absentee Ballot Request Forms
• Other metrics as assigned
Assist the Coordinated Campaign Director in conducting a thorough and effective training program for field staff at all levels, and implement procedures that establish clear lines of communication and effective accountability for all field staff
Working with the Coordinated Campaign Director to communicate the goals and objectives of the NDCC to allied groups, party leaders, donors, activists and other stakeholders
Working with the Coordinated Campaign Director to conduct scheduled performance reviews and provide regular feedback to NDCC staff
Assist in the creation of scripts, survey questions, online content, and training materials for NDCC staff
Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:
2 or more cycles of campaign field experience
At least 1 year of managerial experience
Experience organizing volunteers within a structured organizing model
Experience writing and executing a field plan
Proficiency with Vote Builder
Strong public speaking skills
Strong organizational skills
Respect for, and experience in, collaborating with data professionals and working within data-driven field programs
Comfortable working long, irregular hours for Democratic candidates and causes
Commitment to empowering staff and volunteers at all levels
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Be a team player focused on winning in 2018


Salary:

Regional Field Director

Position: Regional Field Director

Organization: North Dakota Dem-NPL

Reports To: Deputy Coordinated Campaign Director

Overall Description:

The 2018 North Dakota Coordinated Campaign (NDCC) is now accepting applications for Regional Field Directors (RFDs). RFDs will work to execute the NDCC strategy and grow the grassroots movement for electoral success.

RFDs are responsible for implementing the NDCC field plan in their region. RFDs will be held accountable to clear metrics of success and will be expected to report progress toward goals in their region on a daily basis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Developing regional organizing plans that are consistent with NDCC plan;
  • Training Field Organizers (FOs) for basic voter contact;
  • Coaching FOs to effectively recruit, retain, and develop volunteer leaders;
  • Ensuring data integrity in their region;
  • Planning and executing region-wide events;
  • Consulting with legislative candidates on field strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Experience managing and training staff
  • Skilled in team-based organizing
  • Train-the-trainer mentality
  • Comfortable with managing from metrics and has an understanding of field data
  • Familiarity with campaign technology platforms including VAN
  • Attention to detail and strategic viewpoints
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • 1 Cycle of field experience as an FO or higher position
